James shifren

James is a General Partner of Buckland Partners and President of Buckland Partners Management, the entity that manages the Buckland funds.  Prior to joining Buckland in 2004, James was a Partner with the law firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP.  Outside of Buckland, James currently serves on the Board of Directors of Riverspring Health and the Hebrew Home for the Aged.  He is also an active investor in early stage private companies and in the media sector.  James received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  James received his B.A. from Yale University.  James is a former law clerk to Chief Judge Judith Kaye of the New York Court of Appeals.


Jonathan lieber

Jonathan is a General Partner, Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager of Buckland Partners.  Jonathan co-founded Buckland in 2002. Prior to Buckland, Jonathan was a General Partner and Co-Founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York based venture capital firm primarily focused on technology, healthcare, business services and media sectors.  At Wheatley, Jonathan specialized in the services, software, and communications sectors and, in his role, was a board member of a number of portfolio companies.  Previously, Jonathan was a Principal and Vice President at GeoCapital, an investment management company focused on small capitalization companies in a variety of sectors.  At GeoCapital, Jonathan focused on value and special situation investments.  Prior to joining GeoCapital, he worked as an investment analyst for Gabelli & Co. and Woodland Venture Fund. Jonathan holds an M.B.A. with honors from Columbia Business School and an A.B. in International Relations from Brown University.


Seth Lieber

Seth is a General Partner, Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager of Buckland Partners.  Seth co-founded Buckland in 2002.  Prior to Buckland, Seth was a General Partner and Co-Founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York based venture capital firm primarily focused on technology, healthcare, business services and media sectors.  At Wheatley, Seth focused on the software and IT services sectors and, in his role, was a board member of a number of Wheatley portfolio companies.  Previously, Seth was a Principal and Vice President at GeoCapital, an investment management company focused on small capitalization companies in a variety of sectors.  At GeoCapital, Seth focused on growth and technology stocks.  Prior to GeoCapital, Seth was in Institutional Sales with Donaldson, Lukfin & Jenrette and the Equities Division of Drexel Burnham Lambert.  Seth holds a B.S. in Finance from Boston University.


irwin lieber

Irwin is a General Partner and is a recognized pioneer in investment in small capitalization companies who brings an exceptional record of over forty years of private and public investment experience to Buckland.  In 1979, he founded GeoCapital, an investment management company focused on small capitalization companies across a variety of sectors.  As GeoCapital’s Chairman and Chief Investment Officer since its inception, Irwin has compiled a distinctive long term track record of investment out-performance.   Irwin has also been a General Partner and co-founder of Wheatley Partners, a New York-based venture capital firm since 1992.  Prior to co-founding Wheatley, he was a founding General Partner of GeoCapital Partners, a venture capital firm investing in Information Services and Software companies. Irwin also was a General Partner of 21st Century Partners, a private equity partnership invested in companies at the intersection of media and technology.  From 1970 to 1979 he was senior analyst, portfolio manager and later General Partner of First Manhattan Company.   Irwin currently serves on the Boards of WhittmanHart, Tri-Ed and FalconStor.  For many years, he was an investor and Director of Cheyenne Software and Scansource and he was a founding investor/advisor to FalconStor Software. He also was an early investor in StorageTek.  Irwin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from City College of New York and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University. 


David Wechsler, cpa

David is currently the Chief Financial Officer for the Buckland Partners funds. David has an over 30-year career as a CPA. David graduated from Hofstra University.
